365 Days in Ireland Calendar 2002
Published in Paperback by Workman Publishing Company (September, 2001)
Authors: Fritz Dressler, Colum McCann, and Workman
Average review score:

BEAUTIFUL!!
I purchased this calendar last year and not only did I enjoy it, but my entire family as well as visitors really enjoyed the pictures. It's a full size wall calendar with one large picture on the top fold and small pictures on each day as well on the bottom fold. Also the daily blocks are plenty large enough to write appointments for the day. Each month depicts an area in Ireland, then each little picture is a small shot of different places in the main area. I loved the calendar so much last year that I just purchased the one for this year -- I got it and it's every bit as beautiful as the one from last year! Buy it, you will be glad you did!

The best Ireland calendar around!
I have bought an Ireland calendar every year for the past six years. I always get one for my grandmother and usually one for me. This is the best calendar out there. There is almost one photo per each day highlighting each county. There are some truly beautiful photos. I also like that there is plenty if space to write appointments and such in the large boxes beneath each date. I highly reccommend this calendar - it's well worth it's cost.

366 Days of Excellence
Published in Paperback by The Institute Press (15 August, 2000)
Author: Paul D. Bailey
Average review score:

Excellence
Paul Bailey does an excellant job of breaking down a very complex process of achieving excellence. Every person, organization and institution that has "excellence" in it's mission statement must read this book. Paul Bailey articulates thought provoking messages everyday that will bring you one day closer to what it takes to achieve excellence.

You'll be glad you spent your time...
366 Days of Excellence is an outstanding book about character and personal growth. Its author, Paul Bailey, speaks to the terrific challenges we all face in our families, jobs, and relationships. The book is founded on Five Pillars of Excellence: Character, Direction, Discipline, Relationships, and Leadership.

The heart of the book is 366 "daily reflections". Based on the Five Pillars, Bailey's reflections are simple (but not easy) lessons for examining the way in which we conduct ourselves. Each serves as a guidepost for achieving personal, team, or organizational improvement. The lessons are effective, common- sense messages; they are an improvement on other "self-help" publications in that they offer straightforward solutions to fundamental problems. They are proof that a book need not be difficult or prolonged to be very, very successful.

The book makes no promises. It only offers a recipe of sorts for what we all want: a better existence. It will challenge you to explore your behavior and define your beliefs. It will be a really good resource for managers and executives; probably a better tool for Mom and Dad.

The 40-Day Prosperity Plan
Published in Audio Cassette by Hay House, Inc. (August, 1996)
Author: John Randolph Price
Average review score:

STREAMS OF BLESSINGS
This tape deserves 7 stars because it is so very effective. The first part consists of John Price talking about money and your attitude to it, explaining some basic concepts and blowing away the error-thought one often has about money and prosperity in general. He then explains how to use the statements that follow over a 40-day period: there are 10 statements to be used in succession and repeated for four 10-day periods, in other words, one statement per day. This statement for the day can be written down, repeated and meditated upon. The gist of it is that God/The Infinite Spirit IS abundance and wishes to express itself as abundance through the individual. If one has no metaphysical knowledge, the statements might appear strange at first but there's no denying that they work. Following the statements there is a meditation that incorporates the complete message of the statements and finally some more points to ease the flow of abundance into your life (e.g. by cultivating an attitude of giving). Price has a very engaging and reassuring voice that ensures a very pleasant listening experience every time. If you experience any type of lack in your life, follow this program and you'll be amazed by the results. Do not allow your own doubt, worry or cynicism to dismiss this great blessing -- whether you believe it or not, it will work. Sooner or later, depending on the state of your consciousness when you start the program. And best of all, the result is not restricted to money but encompasses abundance in all areas of your life. I sincerely wish that all people who currently experience lack may discover this tape and reap the rich harvest of blessings. God bless you all.

50 Years of Fender: Half a Century of the Greatest Electric Guitars
Published in Paperback by Backbeat Books (30 September, 2000)
Authors: Tony Bacon and Paul Day
Average review score:

The icon of American rock music
Answers many of the questions inquiring minds want to know. I bought it for my 9-year old son, a budding electric guitar player, who was forever asking me questions about Fender. He had found the site on the Internet and was learning the sounds of each of these distinctive guitars from the audio bytes they generously served up. The book is handsomely illustrated and includes all the famous Fenders with short bios on this who played them. But the star of this book is the guitar which has become an icon of American rock music. We have even made some cardboard models of those he likes most. A must have for Fender fans of all ages.

The only unbiased book that tells the whole story
Mr.Smith was able to write a story of the evolution of Fender Musical Intruments that was crafted in much the same way as Leo Fender's "no nonesense" technical philosophy. It seems that everyone who worked for the company is writing, or has written a book that often is either romanticized or modified to fit a personal agenda. The unbiased approach is both shocking and refreshing. Mr.Smith's book also has hundreds of rare and unseen inside photos of the factory, people, and instruments that alone are worth the price of the book. If anyone is interested in the history of this company, "Fender Sound Heard "Round the World" is the only book you will need. Be warned, the book is as addictive to read and browse as playing a blues lick on your Stratocaster!

55 Men, the Story of the Constitution: Based on the Day-By-Day Notes of James Madison

Authors: Fred Rodell and Judith Schnell

What it was like - Constructing a Government
This was an eye opener for learning how many options were considered and how many compromises were made to resolve the regional and economic differences of the fifty-five delagates. Very sobering, to consider how close the USA came to making very different choices. Highly reccommended for all! This is real history, as recorded by Madison, exactly as it evolved.

Although I originally purchased this book for the stories, I have taken his advice to my daily life. I have used the lessons from the book in my years at graduate business school. I would highly recommend this book for anyone who is interested in fun and exciting travel stories. In fact, I just purchased this book for both of my sisters as one is planning a trip to Europe and the other is finishing college.

85 Days: The Last Campaign of Robert Kennedy
Published in Paperback by William Morrow (May, 1988)
Author: Jules Witcover
Average review score:

The most complete story of the campaign & shooting aftermath
Fabulous book! This is the most complete and comprehensive account of the ill-fated 1968 Presidential campaign of RFK ever written. All the speeches, campaign stops and strategy meetings are discussed in detail as well as an analysis of RFK's platform and the deteriorating political relationship with fellow Democratic candidate Eugene McCarthy are vividly covered...Witcover really puts the reader right into the campaign and it's never more evident than when the assasination and subsequent hospital stay and funeral are covered. Most books about this campaign cover just the campaign details or the assasination and none cover completely all the post assasination details like this book does (i.e. we hear about how 3 people are injured/killed in the funeral train procession). Finally, Witcover's conclusions about Kennedy's policies and speculation about his possible Presidency are right on target. Overall, this is an essential book in understanding RFK's transformation from the "Ruthless Cannonball" into a caring/[...] person who very well would have been President...highly recommended.

HOP ON BOARD THE "RUTHLESS" CANNONBALL
Hop on board the 1968 Campaign Train! All aboard! The train will be making nationwide stops. It's the Equal Opportunity Train! Join Robert Kennedy and supporters as he makes stops across country during his 1968 Presidential Campaign.

Tagged by detractors as being ruthless, the Senator's supporters lighten the charge by doing a parody of the "Wabash Cannonball," called the "Ruthless Cannonball." Robert Kennedy, then a senator, had lived with the charge of ruthlessness since his days as a young attorney prosecuting Teamsters and mafiosi. In fairness, the Senator does not appear to be ruthless. He appears to be a very determined, committed, goal oriented, compassionate and often driven man. He was the man who was credited with helping unify groups of disenfranchised persons; he was the advocate and voice for many.

Witcover's clear, precise writing literally places his readers on board that 1968 campaign train. In reading this book, one almost wants to cheer, "Hop on board the campaign train! Next stop, VICTORY!"

Sadly, the last stop was in Los Angeles the night of June 5, 1968 when Senator Robert Kennedy was assassinated. This book does an excellent job of discussing the tragic aftermath of the Senator's assassination and yet the question will always remain -- what would this truly good man have accomplished had he lived to be elected president in 1968?
